Welcome to Palos Verdes Estates

Palos Verdes Estates was the first of 4 planned cities on the Palos Verdes Peninsula and is located along the Pacific Ocean coastline. It was established in 1939 with 28% of the land dedicated to permanent open space. This ‘new’ community was laid out and landscaped by Frederick Olmsted, the notable architect who designed Central Park in NYC. Over the years, the city government has maintained this vision and emphasized preserving, protecting and enhancing the quality of life and natural assets of the land. The picturesque backdrop of the coastal city has been featured in a number of films and television shows. It has been ranked as one of the Top 100 riches places in the US with a median home price of $2.5M. PVE has a population of approximately 14,000 with 59% over the age of 45 and 23% under the age of 18. The Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District is ranked among the top districts in the US.

People & Lifestyle

People enjoy an active, outdoor lifestyle with an emphasis on hiking, biking, golf, tennis along with beachfront activities. Residents enjoy the epitome of coastal living with warm, sunny weather throughout the majority of the year. Golfing, hiking and horse-back riding are some of the main past times of residents on the peninsula. And many scuba divers enjoy diving in the waters of Malaga Cove where they can spot a variety of local sea life. Surfers, sunbathers and swimmers also enjoy this stretch of beach as this area tends to be less busy than the other because of its off-the-beaten-track location.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Palos Verdes Golf Club has long been referred to as “a hidden gem” of Southern California golf and was renovated in 2013. The course provides an exceptional golfing experience with ocean views from several holes. The Clubhouse is one of the original structures on the Palos Verdes Peninsula and is designated as a Historical Building by the Palos Verdes Historical Society. It is a favorite social gathering place for the entire Peninsula.

The Hollywood Riviera, located just down the hill in neighboring Redondo Beach provides a vast variety of shops, restaurants, local breweries and bars. Hennessey’s Tavern and The Bullpen offer live entertainment on weekends.

Spend the day at hiking the trails of Shoreline Park while taking in the breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island or travel a short 7 miles to nearby Del Amo Fashion Center. It is the largest shopping center west of the Mall of America!

Things to Do
